In light of the recent Daily Telegraph article (14th February 2019), we here at CAD are calling upon the Gin Industry Member Associations to introduce a standardisation and kitemark. This would differentiate between those who actually distill or rectify gin, to those who produce low alcoholic drinks falsely labelled ‘GIN’.

This would give a more accurate and visible indicator to consumers and the ‘trade’ to distinguish between true producers of gin, as opposed to the makers of alcoholic drinks which purport to be ‘Gin’.

Although the EU does allow compounded and non-distilled products to be labelled as ‘Gin’, we here at CAD, as do The Gin Guild (theginguild.com) believe that there should be a clearer indentification as to who, or what the producers actually are.
